Zebra Crossings to Be Installed Outside Schools in Punjab

The District Education Authorities in Punjab have directed that zebra crossings be established outside all schools to improve student safety. According to the new orders, school principals are now tasked with ensuring these markings are put in place near their institutions. However, this decision has sparked criticism from the Punjab Teachers Union PTU. Union President Kashif Shehzad voiced objections, questioning the logic of assigning non-academic duties to school staff. “Why are teachers being made responsible for work that clearly belongs to civic bodies like TEPA?” he asked, suggesting that if such departments cannot fulfill their roles, they may as well be dismantled. He urged the provincial education minister to address the issue without delay.
