UoP Increase Fee Protest

Peshawar, University of Peshawar has announced the annual increase of 10% of the tuition fee for the semester fee in all programs in the university. The aspirants of the Peshawar University staged the protest against such increase in the tuition, hostel fee and other charges. Different unions of the students set up a joint platform and they prepared the list of their demands including 10% annual increase in the tuition fee, provision of security force to female students of university against harassment of staff, organizing the exams for the dropped out students, solving the BS programs exams, hostel fee, provision of transport to students and the cleanliness of the hostel and campus.
The representatives of Peshawar University tried to meet with the VC and at first he refused to meet with the students. Afterwards, he held talks with the students and he accepted some of the demands and he refused to accept various demands. The students demanded for the provision of research scholarships to the students for MS and PhD programs to the deserving students and ask the provincial government to restore the unions to do the healthy activities in the campus and restoration of BA and MA programs. The media sources tried to contact with the VC of the University in office or at his residence to give the reply on these issues.
