Heavy Vehicle Entry Restricted in Lahore
To mitigate air pollution, heavy vehicle entry into Lahore is now restricted on Friday and Sunday nights. According to Transport Department representatives, authorities impounded 1,344 vehicles in October and issued over 2,397 challans. A total fine of 10 million rupees was collected from vehicles that violated regulations.
Vehicle Inspections and Compliance Measures
The Transport Department conducted inspections for approximately 9,000 vehicles, resulting in the issuance of fitness certificates for 5,000 vehicles that met technical standards. Two drivers were also arrested for non-compliance with vehicle fitness standards, underscoring the government’s commitment to curbing pollution sources in the region.
