Increase in Inter Exam 2025 Fees Announced Across Pakistan

Facing increased financial challenges, all 14 educational boards in Pakistan, including those in Rawalpindi Division, have raised the examination fees for Higher Secondary School Certificate HSSC students. This fee adjustment, applicable for the 2025 exams, has sparked renewed concerns from families already coping with rising educational expenses. New Fee Structure for Private and Regular Students
With the updated policy, private candidates will now pay Rs. 5,000, while regular students are charged a combined fee of Rs. 4,800. Regular students in the arts stream will pay Rs. 1,400, while science students will pay Rs. 1,500. Private candidates face slightly higher subject fees, at Rs. 1,500 for arts and Rs. 1,600 for science.
Additional Charges and Processing Fees
Alongside the examination fees, each student must also pay a Rs. 1,000 registration fee, a Rs. 1,000 certificate fee, and a Rs. 1,000 processing fee. An additional Rs. 700 covers development, scholarship, and postal expenses. Transfer students from other boards will be required to pay an extra Rs. 1,000 to secure a No Objection Certificate NOC.
Key Deadlines for Fee Payments
The schedule for fee payments is as follows: single fees are due by November 27, double fees by December 11, and triple fees by December 24. A daily penalty of Rs. 200 will apply for late payments until February 11, which increases to Rs. 700 per day from February 12 to February 21, 2025.
Concerns Among Families Over Rising Costs
This increase in examination fees has led to significant concerns among parents, such as Nadeem Asghar and Faisal Mufti, who argue that the government should help cover educational expenses as part of its constitutional duty. Many fear that these growing fees may put education out of reach for low-income families, potentially causing some students to leave school.
