Support from Embassy and Al-Khidmat Foundation

Before their arrival in Lahore, officials from the Pakistani Embassy in Cairo and representatives from the Al-Khidmat Foundation assisted in facilitating the students departure from Cairo International Airport, ensuring the process was smooth and efficient.

Initiative to Aid Gaza’s Students

This group is part of a broader initiative to support a total of 192 Palestinian students from war-affected Gaza. These students will pursue their medical and dental education at various institutions in Pakistan. They will be fully funded as part of a program initiated under the guidance of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

Special Arrangements by PMDC for Palestinian Students

The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council PMDC had earlier given special permission for Palestinian students from Gaza to continue their medical studies in Pakistan. This decision was made following a request from Pakistan’s High Commissioner in London. Approximately 100 Palestinian medical and dental students are expected to be enrolled in Pakistani institutions, and a dedicated committee has been formed to ensure the smooth progression of their studies.

Humanitarian Crisis in Gaza Continues

This initiative comes at a time when Gaza is facing a severe humanitarian crisis. The UNRWA reports that nearly 250,000 people have been affected by evacuation orders from Israeli forces. The Gaza health ministry has reported over 42,000 deaths, with the majority being civilians, as a result of the ongoing conflict.
