Education Ministry new Syllabus for Primary Education

The Ministry of Federal Education & Professional Training has finalized a revised syllabus for Early Childhood Care & Education (ECCE).
Through this new syllabus, emphasis will be put on factors like more respect towards diversity, tolerance, global citizenship, ethical values and civil conduct.
This task was completed by a team of government officials, teachers, curriculum specialists and education experts under the supervision of Ministry of Education.
An official from Ministry told that the group has sent the final draft of the new curriculum for approval and it is expected to be implemented after ministry’s approval by the end of June 2018. The process of preparations of text books will start after the notification and the new books based on the approved syllabus will be published by the end of current year.
According to the official, the whole process was closely monitored by Minister for Federal Education Engr. Balighur Rehman.
Following are the values on which the new syllabus will concentrate:
• Ethical values
• Civil conduct
• Civic sense
• Global citizenship
• Environmental protection
• Democratic culture
• Energy conservation
• National Harmony
• Health and hygiene
• Tolerance and respect for diversity
It was previously stated by the minister that improving quality of education and research in the country is the purpose of ministry while the start of syllabus review project is part of this initiative by the ministry.
For curriculum review and revision, there were total 8 subject specialist committees with 10 members each. Following are the reviewed subject groups:
• ECCE (Pre-primary education)
• Languages (Urdu and English)
• General Science
• General Knowledge
• Social Studies
• Mathematics
• Islamic Studies
