Collaborative Agreement

An agreement has been formalized between Oxford University and the Balochistan Government to launch this scholarship initiative. Sarfraz Ahmed Bugti, who was present at the signing ceremony, emphasized the scholarships potential to close the educational gap and advance higher education in Balochistan.

Historic Event and Notable Attendees

Mir Sarfraz Bugti, who made history as the first Chief Minister of Balochistan to address Oxford’s Lady Margaret Hall, highlighted the scholarship’s importance. Lady Margaret Hall is also known for its connection to Benazir Bhutto, the only Muslim world leader whose portrait is displayed there. The event was attended by 150 distinguished guests, including Malala Yousafzai, Senator Anwaarul Haq Kakar, Aamir Ibrahim, Mohammad Khishgi, Farooq Sheikh, and Professor Kamal Munir.

Advancing Educational Equity

Bugti expressed that the scholarships would allow underprivileged students from Balochistan to study at an institution renowned for educating many prominent individuals, including the late Benazir Bhutto. He noted that this initiative would integrate local educational needs with global standards, addressing educational inequities and enhancing the connection between Balochistan’s ambitions and international academic excellence.

Commitment to Education and Empowerment

Bugti emphasized the scholarships role in the educational transformation and empowerment of Balochistan’s youth, noting that higher education is crucial for strengthening democracy and promoting social progress. He described the scholarship as a significant step toward developing future leaders from Balochistan, stating, “This is more than financial aid; it is a means of empowering young people from Balochistan.”

Pathways to Global Education

The new scholarship program is expected to open doors for talented Baloch students, allowing them to pursue higher education at one of the world’s leading universities.
