Sindh High Court Directs MDCAT to be Re conducted

Sindh High Court has instructed that the Medical and Dental College Admission Test MDCAT be conducted again within four weeks for admissions to public medical and dental institutions. Court Seeks Progress on Previous Orders

During the court session, the judges questioned the committee assigned to investigate the exam issues, seeking updates on its progress. The court had previously directed the formation of this committee to address concerns. Committee Chairperson Shireen Narejo presented the investigation’s findings, while the court stressed the role of the PMDC and Dow University in ensuring the test’s fairness.

Flaws Identified in Exam Process

Shireen Narejo reported that the committee had thoroughly reviewed Dow Universitys exam system and gathered evidence from petitioners. Multiple flaws in the process were identified, involving 40 to 42 individuals responsible for the exams administration. The committee also considered the opinions of some students who were against a retake.

Court Confirms Exam Leak on WhatsApp

The court inquired whether the exam system had been compromised, specifically asking about the possibility of a leak. Shireen Narejo confirmed that both answers and questions had circulated on WhatsApp, revealing significant security lapses in the MDCAT.

Court Orders Retake

Based on the findings of the committee, the court concluded that a retake of the MDCAT was necessary. This decision aims to ensure fairness for all applicants seeking admission to public medical and dental institutions in Sindh.
