Free Technical & Vocational Skills Training Programme for Youth in Kurram and Orakzai District
In an initiative aimed at fostering stability and economic recovery in Kurram and Orakzai districts, the Government of Japan, in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme UNDP and the Sarhad Rural Support Programme SRSP, open admission 2024 has launched a comprehensive technical and vocational skills training programme. This project, titled The Project for the Stabilization and Economic Recovery through Social Cohesion, Local Governance and Livelihood Opportunities, seeks to equip local youth with essential skills to enhance their employability and economic prospects.
Programme Overview
The training programme offers a diverse range of courses tailored to meet the needs of the local labor market. Each course spans three months, targeting young men and women who have completed their matriculation. The courses available include:
Solar PV System & UPS Installation and Repair
General Electrician
Mobile Phone Repairing
Plumbing
Motorcycle Repair & Maintenance
Eligibility and Selection Criteria
The programme is open to individuals aged 18 to 39 years, residing in the target districts of Kurram and Orakzai. Those who have relocated but hold a CNIC or domicile from the target areas are also eligible to apply. The selection process prioritizes applicants who have not previously participated in similar training initiatives. Additionally, the programme strongly encourages applications from women, people with disabilities PWDs, transgender persons, and minorities.
Key selection criteria include:
Age limit: 18 to 39 years
Residency in Kurram or Orakzai districts including those settled elsewhere with valid CNIC/domicile
Preference for first-time trainees
Encouragement of applications from underrepresented groups
Training Benefits
Selected trainees will receive comprehensive support, including hostel accommodation in Peshawar and a monthly stipend, provided they maintain at least 80% attendance. The programme also allows for emergency leaves, limited to two days per month, ensuring that trainees can manage personal emergencies without compromising their training.

Interested applicants must submit their documents within 10 days of the advertisement. Required documents include two passport-sized photographs, an application form, copies of CNIC, domicile, and educational certificates.
