Punjab to Issue Star Cards for High-Achieving Students

The Punjab government, under Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, has rolled out a comprehensive plan to reshape the education system with advanced technology, digital initiatives, and technical training programs.
The newly announced CM Education Card will introduce smart student identification and digitalize school management, making academic data more accessible. Meanwhile, high-performing students scoring above 80% will receive the CM Star Card, unlocking scholarship opportunities and exclusive learning resources.
Outsourcing Schools Yields Positive Results
The government’s decision to outsource underperforming schools has led to a 52% rise in student enrollment and an 89% surge in qualified teaching staff, making it one of the most effective reforms in recent years.
Smart Classrooms & AI-Driven Learning
As part of a futuristic vision, Punjab will introduce Smart Classrooms, integrating AI-based learning platforms, interactive e-books, and digital assessments. Schools will be upgraded with high-speed internet, digital whiteboards, and modern labs.
Expanding Technical Education from Grade 5
To bridge the gap between academia and industry, technical education will be incorporated from grade five onwards. The government will establish Matric Tech Labs, offering STEM education, coding classes, and vocational training in fields like robotics, agriculture, and fashion design.
Boosting Enrollment & Student Welfare
Aiming to enroll 2 million new students annually, the Punjab administration has launched a school meal program in Bhakkar and Layyah, ensuring nutritional support for young learners.
Additionally, a performance monitoring dashboard for teachers and education officers will use real-time data tracking to evaluate progress.
Revolutionizing English Language Training
To enhance global communication skills, spoken English courses have been introduced in 338 schools in Lahore, with plans to offer internationally accredited English certifications in all government schools soon.
Eco-Friendly & Future-Ready Schools
Under the One Teacher, One Tree Initiative, two million trees have been planted across schools, promoting sustainability. Punjab’s education roadmap also includes constructing 30,000 new classrooms, establishing 600 elementary schools, and upgrading 400 high schools over the next five years.
With modern teaching tools, AI-driven education, and a focus on innovation, Punjab is on track to becoming a leading hub for future-ready education in Pakistan.
