PHEC Introduces International Research Support Fellowship

In a significant announcement, the Punjab Higher Education Commission PHEC has introduced the International Research Support Fellowship IRSF program. This fellowship is specifically designed for Ph.D. students currently enrolled in provincially chartered universities and institutes in Punjab, offering them the opportunity to conduct research at the top 200 universities worldwide, as per the QS ranking. The six-month International Research Support Fellowship aims to provide invaluable research experience to highly motivated students pursuing full-time Ph.D. programs in Punjab.

The objective of this initiative is to enhance the quality of research conducted by local students by facilitating their engagement with international experts in their respective fields. Interested candidates are required to submit their complete applications to the Punjab Higher Education Commission in Lahore via registered post before 5:00 PM on August 03, 2023. Hand-delivered applications will not be accepted.

PHEC International Research Support Fund Grant Provision

Under this program, PHEC will provide funding to cover essential expenses, including the bench fee, return airfare, and a living stipend, according to the following limits:

Travel: A maximum of Rs. 300,000/- will be granted for the purchase of a return air ticket.
Living Allowance: The living allowance will vary depending on the country of study.
Bench Fee: PHEC will provide support of up to Rs. 500,000/- only.

PHEC International Research Support Fund Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the International Research Support Fellowship, candidates must fulfill the following criteria:

Punjab Domicile
Age Limit: Maximum of 45 years
Enrolled in a Ph.D. program at any public or private sector university in Punjab, having completed coursework
Ph.D. students can apply after 1.5 years of enrollment and up to a maximum of 3.5 years in the program
Passed the comprehensive examination as per university norms
Ph.D. synopsis/research proposal approved by the Board of Advanced Studies and Research BASR or equivalent statutory body of the university
A valid acceptance letter from a foreign university/supervisor ranked among the QS top 200

How to Apply for the International Research Support Fellowship

Interested candidates are required to apply online through the PHEC website. Additionally, a printed copy of the application, completed in all respects, must be submitted via registered post before 5:00 PM on August 03, 2023. Hand-delivered applications will not be considered.
