New Subject Groups to Be Introduced for Grade 9

Educational institutions—both public and private—in Rawalpindi have unveiled six new subject groupings for students entering Grade 9, effective from the 2025–26 academic year. This change aims to offer more diverse and career-oriented academic paths for students at the secondary level. Three-Day Window for Stream Selection

Students moving up from Grade 8 will receive comprehensive information about these subject groups alongside their admission forms. They will be granted three days to explore these options with their parents before making a final decision regarding their stream of choice.

Classes Scheduled to Start in Mid-April

Teaching for these new academic streams will officially start on April 11. The newly introduced subject areas include Natural Sciences, Computer Science, Health Science, Agriculture, Fashion Designing, and Arts, reflecting a broader curriculum tailored to modern educational trends.

Standard Core Subjects for All Students

Regardless of the selected stream, each group will be required to study five foundational subjects: Translation of the Quran, English, Urdu, Islamiat, and Pakistan Studies. These core subjects are designed to maintain a strong educational foundation and national cohesion.
