Locally Developed LMS Launch by AIOU for Online Education

Allama Iqbal Open University Islamabad has introduced the next generation Learning Management System with the provision of the platform of e-learning. Now the AIOU will start this program through the virtual classroom facilitation grid and it is aimed at to carry on the academic process during the eruption of the COVID-19 pandemic.
This platform is known as ‘Aaghi LMS Portal’ and this platform is now used to hold the classes of the B.Ed, BS, MA, MS, MSc, Associate Degree, MPhil and PhD programs. Aaghi LMS Portal is the joint venture of AIOU and the Directorate of Information and Communication Technology and AIOU bears the expenses for the setting up of this portal.
Now the students and teachers will connect through the text, voice and video calls by use of this platform having the live face to face interaction without any interruption. The students shared their feedback and said that they are quite satisfied with performance of Aaghi LMS Portal and quality of education, which is delivered by the teachers and it suggests that the AIOU trained the staff to run this system, LMS quite satisfactorily.
There are over 40,000 students all over 15 regions across Pakistan, which have rejoined the academic process after the short break of lockdown through the availability of the Aaghi LMS Portal. The management of AIOU offered to deploy the LMS portal in all universities to ensure their students to ensure getting higher standard of education deposit the ongoing lockdown.
