KU Is Not In Favor To Discontinue 2 Years Degree Program

The Karachi University has rejected the decision of Higher Education Commission HEC, Islamabad to abolish the 2 years BA/BSc degree program. Remember that HEC recently announced that none of the universities and colleges will offer two year degree programs and directed to initiate Associate Degree Program.
The VICE Chancellor Karachi University KU, Professor Dr. Khalid Iraqi Said:
“The university has presented the HEC’s decision to its Academic Council that rejected the decision twice”
The Karachi University KU Commission has decided to hold a meeting of 187 public and private universities on this issue. In the meeting the HEC’s decision will be discussed and a letter will be sent to the chairman of HEC.
The university has already forwarded the summary of the issue to Sindh Board and the government of Sindh as well. According to the Acting Director of Karachi University:
“Karachi University has 70,000 students enrolled in the two-year degrees and MA programs, including private students”.
The University of the Karachi claims that financial problems will arise in the result of HEC’s decision if implemented immediately.
