KPK Govt Orders All Colleges To Launch BS Programs

The Government of Khyber Paktunkhwa has officially announced to abolish the two years Bachelor degree programs in all colleges of the province and directed the Higher Education Department to launch BS Programs in all colleges immediately. The KP government took this step in the light of the decision under taken by the Higher Education Department HEC, Islamabad to terminate the 2 years BA/BSc programs across the country.
Recently, the Chief Minister KP, Mahmood Khan officially announced to terminate the 2 years degree programs and ordered to start the 4 years BS programs in all colleges across the province. Reportedly, a progress review meeting of the Higher Education, Archives and Libraries Department, Govt of KPK was held recently and this decision was taken in the meeting. The meeting was attended by the Special Assistant to CM on Higher Education and Information, Kamran Bangash, Secretary Higher Education, Daud Khan, Secretary Finance, Atif Ur Rehman, Secretary Communication & Works, Ijaz Ansari, and other concerned officials.
The Official said:
“Some 1,900 new posts of lecturers had been recently approved to overcome the deficiency of lecturers in colleges. An amount of Rs. 2.56 billion had been sanctioned for providing missing facilities in 177 colleges,”
In the review meeting, the officials of the KP government briefed about the performance of the govt regarding the development of the higher education sector. The official briefed the meeting that 19 more colleges in different areas established during past period of government and 51 more colleges are under process.
