Are you ready to embark on a transformative journey? The Kennedy-Lugar Youth Exchange and Study YES Program invites high school students to say YES to an extraordinary opportunity to study in the United States for one year. This exchange program is designed to foster cross-cultural understanding and empower youth to become ambassadors of their home countries.
What is the YES Program?
The YES Program is a one-year exchange initiative that offers students the chance to:
Live with an American Host Family: Experience daily life in the U.S. while building meaningful relationships.
Study at a U.S. High School: Engage with diverse peers and enhance your academic experience in a new environment.
Participate in a Youth Leadership Program: Develop leadership skills that will benefit you in your future endeavors.
Immerse Yourself in U.S. Culture: Gain a deeper understanding of American society while sharing your own culture.
Improve Your English: Enhance your language skills through daily interactions and academic coursework.
Make Lifelong Friends: Connect with fellow students and families, creating bonds that span across cultures.
Share Your Heritage: Help Americans learn about your country and traditions, fostering mutual understanding.
The YES Program is a collaboration between the U.S. Department of State and American Councils for International Education, alongside various in-country non-profit organizations. Students from 37 different countries are welcomed into this enriching experience.
Who Can Apply?
The YES Program is open to you if you:
Have a strong record of high academic achievement.
Demonstrate flexibility and a commitment to promoting cross-cultural understanding.
Are between the ages of 15-17 by the start of the program August 15, 2025.
Are currently studying in Grade 9, 10, or O Levels during the academic year 2024-2025.
Are not a U.S. citizen or permanent resident and were not born in the United States.
Have not applied for U.S. citizenship.
Students from underserved communities and those with diverse backgrounds are especially encouraged to apply.
