HEC Enhances Physical Education Degree Programs

Higher Education Commission HEC of Pakistan has undertaken a comprehensive revision of the curriculum for the BS and MS degree programs in Physical Education. The update aims to ensure that the programs meet contemporary trends, international standards, and the evolving needs of the sector. The previous curriculum was established in 2014, making this update a crucial step to keep the programs relevant. The fresh updates of HEC Enhances Physical Education Degree Programs with Curriculum Update are shared online for the comfort of the students.

Involvement of Educational Institutions

A two-day gathering of the National Curriculum Review Committee NCRC facilitated the review process. Representatives from 18 universities and institutions offering BS and MS degrees in Physical Education participated in the session. This collaborative effort demonstrates a unified commitment to enhancing the quality and professional standards of Physical Education programs throughout Pakistan, especially at the University of Punjab.

Aligning with Global Trends and Sector Demands

The primary aim of the meeting was to update the curriculum in line with global trends in Physical Education and to meet the sectors dynamic requirements in Pakistan. The curriculum was restructured to ensure that it is up-to-date and reflective of both international standards and emerging trends in sports science and physical education.

Professor Dr. Zafar Iqbal Butt, the Chair of the Department of Sports Sciences at the University of Punjab Lahore, was elected unanimously to lead the review process. His expertise and leadership were integral to ensuring that the curriculum framework was both comprehensive and forward-thinking.
