In an effort to control rising education costs, the Pakistani government has decided to impose a cap on the tuition fees of private medical and dental colleges, sources confirm. The students can get the latest updates of Govt to Regulate Fees for Private Medical & Dental Colleges.

High Fees Create Barriers for Students

Reports suggest that some institutions charge as much as Rs. 3.5 million per year, making medical education unaffordable for many aspiring students. To counter this, the government is finalizing a revised maximum fee limit, which will be lower than the existing rates.

Ensuring Fair and Accessible Education

Officials stated that the objective of this move is to prevent excessive fee increases and make quality education more accessible. Consultations regarding the new fee structure have been completed, and an official announcement is expected soon.

Previous Actions Taken by PMDC

Earlier this year, the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council PMDC had already taken steps to restrict fee collection by private institutions. Notices were issued instructing colleges to halt fee collection based on recommendations from the Senate’s Health Sub-Committee.

Government’s Initiative for a Balanced Fee Policy

A ban on fee collection was enforced until the Medical Education Committee, chaired by Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, finalized its recommendations. This committee, formed under the Prime Minister’s directive, is responsible for developing a fair and reasonable fee structure for medical education.
