IHC Directs Retake of MDCAT Exam
Earlier, 22,500 candidates had registered for the MDCAT on September 22. However, following multiple complaints, the Islamabad High Court IHC intervened and instructed the university to conduct a retake. SZABMU had initially administered the exam across Islamabad, Azad Jammu and Kashmir AJK, as well as two centers in Saudi Arabia and the UAE. Due to the number of grievances raised, the IHC directed the university to organize another test.
The university clarified that the results from the September 22 exam will remain valid, but those who wished to reappear were asked to submit applications. As a result, about 17,000 students applied for the retake. The university initially set the test date for November 24, but it was later canceled and rescheduled to December 14. After another cancellation, SZABMU announced that the retake would occur on December 22.
SZABMU MDCAT 2024 retake also filed an appeal against the IHCs decision, proposing an alternative solution to raise students marks. Nevertheless, on December 18, the IHC reaffirmed its decision, ordering the university to hold the test within two weeks.
