The Centre of Excellence in Marine Biology at the University of Karachi is a leading research institute dedicated to advancing education and research in marine sciences. For the academic session 2024-2025, the Centre invites applications for its MPhil and PhD programs in Marine Biology, providing an excellent opportunity for students passionate about marine ecosystems.

Program Details
MPhil Program
Eligibility: Candidates must hold an MSc or BS degree with at least a second class in Biological or Physical Sciences, preferably with a background in Biology.
PhD Program
Eligibility: Applicants should possess an MS or MPhil degree in Marine Biology or an equivalent qualification.
Application Procedure
Interested candidates can obtain the application form from the office of the Director at the Centre or can request it via email at cembku@gmail.com. The application form can also be downloaded from the Centre’s official website: www.marinebiology.edu.pk.

Submission Requirements:
The completed application form must be submitted with:
Attested photocopies of CNIC, certificates, degrees, and domicile.
A non-refundable processing fee of Rs. 5,000 via pay order in favor of the Director, CEMB.
A soft copy of the application in MS Word format emailed to cembku@gmail.com. Scanned or PDF formats are not accepted.
Additional Information:
Candidates awaiting BS/MSc results may apply, but they must attach results from the last two semesters, verified by their department head.
Limited scholarships are available based on merit.
In-service candidates must apply through the proper channel and include a No Objection Certificate NOC.
All applications must be submitted by October 21, 2024. Incomplete applications or those received after the due date will not be considered.
Eligible candidates will be required to appear for an entry test, with the date communicated via email or mail.
Certificate Courses
In addition to the degree programs, the Centre also offers 8-week certificate courses aimed at enhancing practical skills in marine biology. Each course costs Rs. 6,000 and classes are held on Fridays and Saturdays.
