The Punjab government has unveiled an extensive skills training program aimed at equipping 100,000 young individuals with job-ready expertise. Chairing a key meeting on manpower export, Chief Minister instructed officials to develop a structured plan for training and placing skilled workers in jobs, both locally and abroad. She also emphasized the need for providing business loans and digital business cards to trained individuals to enhance their financial independence. The students can get latest updates of Punjab to Train 100,000 Youth for Employment Opportunities.

Innovative Training Programs for Youth

To extend training opportunities to youth in remote areas, the government is introducing the “Skills on Wheel” project in partnership with the private sector. Furthermore, the Chief Minister has approved multiple new programs, including a ‘plug and play’ call center system. Initially, 5,000 individuals will receive specialized call center training, and after completing the six-week course, they can secure jobs with salaries of up to Rs 100,000 per month. Additionally, discussions are underway to introduce Skills Cards to certify trained professionals.

Supporting Women in the Workforce

The government is also prioritizing women’s empowerment through vocational training. A total of 480 women will be trained at the Garment Training Institute in Quaid-i-Azam Business Park, where they will receive a monthly stipend of Rs 20,000 and transportation facilities. After completing their training, they will be placed in leading textile companies, helping them achieve financial stability and professional growth.

Strengthening IT and Skills Development

According to Punjab Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Secretary Nadir Chattha, all skill development institutions in the province have been integrated under a single administrative body for greater efficiency. Under the CM Skilled Punjab Initiative, 4,000 individuals have already earned international IT certifications, with plans to increase this number to 10,000.

Additionally, a six-month hospitality training program, developed in collaboration with a British institution, will provide participants with job placement opportunities. Moreover, 1,600 transgender individuals have received training in textile work, makeup, and backstage production, along with a monthly stipend of Rs 8,000. The “Tabeer” initiative is also facilitating job placements for skilled workers seeking employment abroad. Meanwhile, a digital training program for rural women has received 27,000 applications, offering participants free desktop computers and training in IT and English.

To streamline these initiatives, a centralized digital dashboard for skill development programs will be launched by mid-April.

Chief Minister’s Vision for Youth Empowerment

Chief Minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to youth development, stating that skill-based education and employment opportunities are essential for economic progress. She stressed that Punjab’s youth must be equipped with the right tools to contribute effectively to national growth, ensuring full government support for training and job placement programs.

Reversing Increased Bus Fares for Tourism

In a separate directive, CM ordered the immediate reversal of increased fares for double-decker sightseeing buses operated by the Tourism Development Corporation of Punjab TDCP. The fare had been raised from Rs 200 to Rs 500, while corporate and educational booking rates had surged from Rs 5,000 to Rs 20,000.

Displeased with the price hike, the Chief Minister instructed authorities to restore previous fare rates, ensuring that the service remains affordable and continues to promote tourism in Lahore.
