Punjab Government Installs Rooftop Solar Panels in Schools

The Government of the Punjab has made the announcement that there are total 20,000 schools in the province, in which rooftop solar power systems will be installed. The CM examined the progress of the government supported projects, which are being carried out under Khadam-e-Punjab Ujala Program and the main target of the project is to provide the rooftop solar systems in schools, health centers and the educational institutes.

Under this program, they have managed to get the support of AFD Bank of France and Asian Development Bank and it is the encouraging sign and the success of the banks can level the way to program, which can be extended. The project will be divided into the phases and the first phase will be started in Southern Punjab and it will be extended northwards and into the rest of the Punjab province.

Half of Population not Connected to National Grid
The energy crisis is still continued in the energy sector and there is half of the population of the country, which is not connected with the national grid. This half of the population is producing its own electricity. People, who are connected to the national grid, they are still facing the unstopped and undeclared power shortage. Pakistan is increasingly dependent on the imported electricity. We also import about 100 MW from Iran and they have made the plan to enhance the energy production to 3000 MW.

There are many projects, which are established and run properly and the situation of energy short fall is turned around. This is the alternative method of production of electricity with the use of solar energy and they have accomplished great deal of country with the more widely accepted and used. On the basis of country, the project developers sign lot of deals last year to set up solar power plants.

Quaid-e-Azam Solar Power Park has added total 100 MW to national grid and the largest solar power project has the total capacity of 1000 MW.
