Khyber Medical Universitys Institute of Public Health & Social Sciences IPH&SS announces its admission for the Master in Health Research MHR program for the year 2024. The university, committed to excellence in academic and research endeavors, invites highly motivated and goal-oriented candidates to apply for fully funded MHR positions. This initiative aims to cultivate a cohort of scholars within the CONTROL research program, generously funded by the NIHR Research and Innovation for Global Health Transformation RIGHT award.

The focal point of the CONTROL research program is on addressing the complex interplay between tuberculosis TB and depression multimorbidity. These fully funded student ships are designed to enhance research capacities in non-communicable diseases NCDs within Pakistan and Afghanistan. Successful candidates will be expected to align their research proposals with the overarching theme of TB and depression multimorbidity.

Program Structure and Duration:
The MHR program spans two years and includes a total of seven contact sessions. The first six contact sessions are dedicated to coursework, while the seventh session entails a comprehensive exam, final viva, proposal development, combined group consultation, and an academic review board meeting. Attendance at these contact sessions is mandatory. The program offers a robust foundation for advanced qualification and serves as an excellent preparatory avenue for doctoral-level studies.

Eligibility Criteria:
The program welcomes applications from both Pakistani and Afghan nationals. Eligible candidates must possess one of the following qualifications or equivalent recognized by the relevant regulatory bodies:

Applicants should demonstrate a significant interest in health research, as evidenced by involvement in research projects, publications, symposia, and workshops. Additionally, candidates are expected to possess appropriate academic credentials and basic computer literacy.

Admission Process:

Prospective candidates are required to submit their applications online through the prescribed form available at The deadline for submission of admission forms is March 6, 2024. Along with the application form, candidates must enclose a non-refundable fee of Rs. 3000, deposited in favor of Khyber Medical University, Peshawar, at the designated Muslim Commercial Bank branch.

An admission test, scheduled for March 13, 2024, will evaluate candidates based on multiple-choice questions MCQs covering English, General Knowledge/Public Health, Basic Maths, and analytical reasoning. A minimum passing score of 60% is required for shortlisting. Shortlisted candidates will then be required to submit a two-page research proposal aligned with their intended masters thesis topic.
