HEC Introduces New 4 Year Framework for LLB Programs

Higher Education Commission HEC of Pakistan organized a three-day session of the National Curriculum Review Committee for Law to evaluate and enhance the country’s Bachelor of Laws LLB degree. This meeting aimed to modernize legal education and improve curriculum standards to meet present-day academic and professional needs. Legal and Academic Experts Participate in Curriculum Review
The session was chaired by Dr. Amjad Hussain, Director General Curriculum at HEC, and was attended by distinguished representatives from the legal and education sectors. Key participants included Pakistan Bar Council member Hassan Raza Pasha, Barrister Usama Malik from the Directorate of Legal Education, and Dr. Aziz-ur-Rehman from Quaid-i-Azam University. HEC’s Deputy Director Curriculum, Hidayatullah Kasi, served as the session secretary.
Approval Granted for Revised LLB Structure
The committee reached a consensus on introducing a new four year LLB program. The restructured curriculum aims to bring Pakistan’s legal education in line with international s while also addressing local legal requirements and preparing students for practical legal careers.
New Curriculum Targets Quality and Professional Readiness
According to HEC officials, the updated academic framework is focused on improving the quality of legal instruction nationwide. It is designed to ensure that graduates are well-equipped for both courtroom practice and broader legal roles in society.
Formal Implementation Process Underway
The approved curriculum will now move to the next stage, which includes acquiring mandatory statutory endorsements before being implemented at universities across Pakistan. Once finalized, this program will represent a significant shift in legal education within the country.
