HEC Announces COVID-19 Outbreak Research Funding

Higher Education Commission is going to collect the research proposals from universities and individual faculty members of the universities and institutes on the topic to resolve the novel coronavirus crisis. The HEC receives the proposal by 3 April and the funds will be provided to the selected universities and individuals during the month of April. HEC has announced the research initiatives with the support of World Bank, which is entitled as RAPID Research and Innovation Fund program with the aim to seek research capacities of universities in an effort to control and reduce COVID-19 crisis. HEC is also going to work with the universities to reduce the impact of lockdown of the universities as the academic activities have been stopped. The HEC is going to form three specialized committees in order to grant software, IT facilities, tech support and curate substantive online content. The main purpose of the funding is to enable faculty members to carry on their taching courses as they left at the time of closing of the universities. The individual faculty members will share their course outlines to their students and provide the required reading material through online learning management systems.
The universities can also develop the repositories of online courses and HEC will facilitate the access to the extensive digital library of the courses and lectures. The technology support committee of COVID-19 of HEC prepared their working paper in order to help the senior leadership of the universities.
