Dow University Conducts MDCAT in Sindh for 3rd Year

After Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences Jamshoro LUMHS declined to conduct the Medical and Dental Colleges Admissions Test MDCAT, the Sindh government has designated Dow University of Health Sciences DUHS to handle the exam. DUHS Continues MDCAT Administration
For the third consecutive year, DUHS will be responsible for administering the MDCAT for both private and public medical and dental colleges across Sindh. Sindh Health Secretary Rehan Baloch has issued an official notification confirming this decision.
LUMHS Withdrawal Explained
Dr. Ikramuddin Ujjan, Vice Chancellor of LUMHS, cited a potential conflict of interest as the reason for stepping down, as his son is a candidate for this years exam. To ensure impartiality and transparency, he recommended that another institution conduct the test.
Other Universities Considered
There were initial discussions about assigning the MDCAT to People’s Medical University Nawabshah or Larkana Medical University. However, the authorities concluded that DUHS would be the most suitable choice.
Addressing Last Years Issues
Last year, DUHS took over the MDCAT administration after an initial attempt by Jinnah Sindh Medical University was canceled due to paper leak allegations. DUHS is now set to continue its role in ensuring the fair and effective administration of the test.
