Following the upheaval witnessed on the 10th, 11th, and 12th of May 2023, Cambridge Assessment International Education CAIE has announced the arrangement of special retake examinations scheduled for October. This decision, disclosed by the government on Friday, seeks to alleviate the concerns of students and parents who were confronted with unexpected outcomes in the A and AS-level examinations of the year. The students can get detailed information regarding Pak Affected Students Appear in Cambridge Additional Exams 2023.

A pivotal meeting was convened at the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training MoFEPT, gathering key stakeholders including Uzma Yousaf, the Country Director of CAIE, Maria Rehman, the Director of British Council, alongside other prominent educational leaders. The primary focus of the meeting was to outline a strategy aimed at addressing the discrepancies observed in the recent examination results.

For the retake exams, Cambridge has decided to waive the associated fees, and the British Council will extend support in logistics at a reduced expense. Any notable inconsistencies in the school-assessed grades will prompt a thorough re-evaluation and individualized assessment of Cambridge assessment grades.

Requests for re-evaluation and reassessment will be subject to an 80-20 cost-sharing arrangement between schools and parents respectively. Should these reviews lead to alterations in the grades, a full refund of the incurred fees will be granted. Furthermore, the Ministry will collaborate with distinguished Vice Chancellors from various universities to ensure a flexible approach to admissions. Similar strategies will be implemented in coordination with provincial governments.

In order to address unresolved grievances, a dedicated mechanism for complaint redressal will be instituted under the Private Institution Education Regulatory Authority PIERA within the Ministry of Federal Education & Professional Training.

The genesis of this situation traces back to the release of Cambridge International Examinations CIE AS and A-Level results for Pakistani students. The cancellation of examinations on the 9th and 12th of May, driven by political tensions, resulted in unanticipated grading outcomes. In response to the outcry from students and parents, Cambridge International expressed their commitment to gradually reinstating the pre-pandemic standards set in 2019.
