6 Pakistani Universities Worlds Top 700 institutes
Total 6 Pakistani universities are present in the top 700 ranking made by Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings while last year there were only 3 present in this list.
National University of Science & Technology (NUST) remained in 501-550 band and lead the Pakistani universities while it is followed for 2nd and 3rd place by Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) and Quaid-e-Azam University (QAU) respectively.
University of Karachi, University of Lahore and University of Engineering & Technology (UET) Lahore are the three new Pakistani universities in this list. The top ranking in this list is taken for the 5th consecutive time by Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
The three main factors determined the ranking of Pakistani universities are faculty/student ratio, employer reputation and citation per faculty. All the universities improved their employer reputation but only NUST show improvement in faculty/student ratio among all Pakistani universities while QAU was the only university improving its citation per faculty while all the other universities show reduction in this factor.
Ben Stower is the head of research at QS Intelligence who told that levels of universities affected much this year with their investment levels. European countries like UK, Germany and Italy lost their rankings due to low investment as a result of economic regression while countries in Asia improved their rankings due to same factor. Current year is the first ever time that all the top 3 positions are achieved by American universities.
Research, teaching, employability and internationalization are the four main factors determining the rankings in QS World University Rankings.
