USEFP denies halting the Fulbright Program in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: United States Educational Foundation in Pakistan USEFP has rejected recent reports suggesting the Fulbright Programme would be discontinued. In a statement released on Friday, USEFP assured the public that multiple US government-funded exchange programs, including Fulbright, remain available to Pakistani citizens. The statement emphasized that Fulbright participants in the United States continue to receive their stipends without interruption. Claims that the Fulbright Programme has ended or that students are at risk of being stranded in the US are false, USEFP stated.
This clarification follows the closure of the Global Undergraduate Exchange Programme Global UGRAD in Pakistan, which had been running for 15 years. The Fulbright Programme continues to have a strong presence in Pakistan, providing significant financial support for Masters and PhD programs, in addition to offering a fellowship for Foreign Language Teaching Assistants.
USEFP also confirmed that there would be no changes affecting Pakistani students currently involved in the Global UGRAD exchange.
