US English Scholarship Program for Pakistani Students
The U.S. Consulate General in Karachi has unveiled the 2024 English Access Scholarship Program, which will provide English language training to 200 Pakistani students. This program is aimed at equipping students with essential language skills to help them navigate a globalized world. Consul General Emphasizes Program’s Value
During the launch ceremony, U.S. Consul General Scott Urbom stressed the program’s role in creating new pathways for the students. He highlighted how mastering English can unlock numerous academic and career opportunities, contributing to a brighter future for participants.
Fostering Cultural Understanding and Academic Partnerships
In addition to teaching English, the program will introduce students to American cultural values. CG Urbom expressed gratitude towards Evolution, the program’s implementing partner, as well as educational institutions such as Sindh Madressatul Islam University, University of Sufism and Modern Sciences Bhitshah, and Sindh Agriculture University, Umerkot, for their contributions.
Details of the Program and Benefits for Students
The two-year English Access Scholarship Program is funded by the U.S. Mission’s Regional English Language Office in Pakistan and is designed for academically strong but economically disadvantaged students between 13 and 20 years old. The program offers afterschool and intensive English courses while also providing students with a deeper understanding of U.S. culture and democratic values. This knowledge will better prepare them to contribute to Pakistans development and improve their chances of participating in future U.S.-based academic or exchange programs.

This scholarship program reflects the U.S. government’s ongoing efforts to promote education in Pakistan and prepare youth to succeed in today’s interconnected world. Since 2004, the initiative has benefited approximately 8,000 students in Sindh and Balochistan, giving them the skills to compete on a global scale.
