Decision-Making and Implementation
These reforms stem from the recent shift in Sindh’s academic session from August 1 to April 1. The changes, including the syllabus reduction, were finalized during a steering committee sub-committee meeting in late November. The decision involved input from senior officials, including the Secretary of College Education, the Secretary of Universities and Boards, board chairpersons from Karachi and Mirpurkhas, and representatives of private schools.
To ensure smooth implementation, the Directorate of Curriculum, Assessment, and Research DCAAR has been directed to finalize and disseminate the reduced syllabus by December 15. This measure ensures timely preparation for students, educators, and examination boards.
College and University Coordination
For colleges, the academic year will begin on August 1, 2025. The committee also emphasized aligning Sindhs academic calendar with university schedules, particularly since scholarship programs are typically announced in August. This alignment aims to protect students’ academic and financial opportunities.
Streamlining Academic Transitions
These reforms aim to enhance Sindh’s education system by reducing disruption during the calendar shift and providing a balanced approach to academic and examination schedules for students and institutions alike.
