In a major move to strengthen the higher education sector, the federal government has proposed over Rs. 9 billion in the Public Sector Development Programme PSDP 2025–26 for the creation and development of five public universities, as revealed in official documents obtained by online resources. Federal Budget to Boost Higher Education Infrastructure in Key Areas
The allocation details are as follows:
1.37 billion is allocated for the University of Sahiwal, a project approved by the DDWP in 2020.
Women University of Azad Jammu and Kashmir will receive Rs. 1.80 billion, with CDWP approval dating back to 2016.
FATA University is assigned Rs. 1.76 billion, following its CDWP approval in 2015.
University of Chitral is set to get Rs. 1.72 billion, approved by the DDWP in 2020.
University of Gwadar secures the largest portion, with Rs. 2.49 billion, approved by the CDWP in 2022.
