Revamped Admission Policy Implemented by PED

2024-03/26603_1_58849.pdf

The Punjab School Education Department has recently modified its admission policy, opting for a more conservative increase in new admissions. Instead of the initially proposed 10% surge, the department has decided on a more modest four percent rise for the ongoing academic year. The students and teachers can get latest updates of Revamped Admission Policy Implemented by PED.

Strategic Shift in Focus

Last year witnessed a significant number of admissions in Punjab, particularly in Lahore, with 625,000 enrollments. However, this year, the emphasis has shifted towards a gradual increase in admissions, indicating a strategic maneuver by educational authorities.

Academic Improvement as Priority

In addition to altering admission quotas, the School Education Department has mandated school administrations to prioritize enhancing academic performance alongside the influx of new students. Principals failing to meet specified targets may face consequences under the Punjab Employees Efficiency, Discipline, and Accountability PEDA Act.

Ambitious Educational Goals

The education board has set ambitious targets to improve outcomes in matriculation and intermediate exams compared to previous years. One of the primary objectives is to maintain an 85% attendance rate among students, showcasing the department’s dedication to promoting regular attendance and academic involvement.

Promotion of Physical Activity

Recognizing the significance of physical activity in student development, all schools are now required to conduct a weekly sports parade every Saturday. This initiative aims to foster active participation in sports and nurture a culture of physical well-being among students.

Embracing Inclusivity

To promote inclusivity, ramps have been made mandatory in schools to facilitate access for disabled children. By ensuring accessibility for all students, the education department underscores its commitment to providing an inclusive and supportive learning environment.

Anticipated Positive Outcomes

As these policy adjustments take effect, education officials are optimistic about positive outcomes in terms of academic performance, student engagement, and overall educational quality. With a focus on accountability, inclusivity, and student welfare, the School Education Department strives to maintain and elevate educational standards across Punjab, fostering a conducive learning environment for all students.
