Punjab is set to make history with the announcement of Pakistan’s first-ever Artificial Intelligence AI University. Chief announced that loans up to Rs. 30 million would be made available for students to fund their education, pursue part-time jobs, or establish business ventures. Furthermore, the provincial government will provide free land to support students wishing to start their own businesses, fostering economic independence and contributing to societal growth.

Expansion of Laptop Distribution Program
In a move to support students further, the Punjab government will expand its laptop distribution initiative. This year, 30,000 laptops will be provided to students, and next year, the number will rise to 50,000. The goal is to distribute 100,000 laptops by the following year, ensuring students in public universities and colleges with a 65% or higher grade point average have the tools they need to succeed. The government will also introduce scholarships for students in their third and fourth years of study, aiding them in continuing their academic journey.

However, she made it clear that Pakistan’s education system must focus on fostering a culture of research and innovation, particularly in the fields of artificial intelligence. “While China is teaching AI to children as young as 5th grade, we are still dealing with outdated thinking,” she remarked, calling for a stronger emphasis on contemporary educational methods to secure the country’s future.
