In response to the cold weather prevailing across Punjab, the Department of Special Education Punjab has made changes to the school hours for special children throughout the province. The department issued a notification, stating that the adjusted school hours will be in effect from January 10 to the end of February. The students can get fresh information of Punjab School Timings & Dress Code Modifications due to Cold Weather

Revised Schedule Details

Under the revised schedule, schools will now commence at 9 AM and conclude at 2 PM from Monday to Saturday. However, on Fridays, the school day will end at noon. This adjustment aims to provide a more suitable environment for special children during the colder months.

Relaxed Dress Code for Comfort

In an effort to counter the impact of the cold weather and alleviate financial concerns for parents, the Department of Special Education has also relaxed the dress code for students. Special children are now permitted to wear sweaters and jackets of their choice along with the regular uniform, offering them additional warmth and comfort.

Extension of Winter Break and Previous Govt Announcement

Prior to these adjustments, the provincial government had initially announced an extension of the winter break, closing all public and private educational institutions in the province until January 9. The decision to extend the winter break was made in consideration of the severe cold weather conditions.

Initially, schools were scheduled to reopen on January 1; however, the provincial authorities decided to prolong the winter vacations due to the prevailing harsh weather conditions. This step was taken to prioritize the safety and well-being of students and staff.

Extension in KPKP and Reaction from Private Education Network

In a parallel move, the Education Department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa also extended the winter break until January 7. However, the Private Education Network PEN expressed disagreement with this decision and urged concerned officials to reconsider, highlighting potential challenges and concerns associated with the extended break.
