Punjab Schools Adjust Summer Break Schedule 2024

Updated Summer Break Schedule:
According to a recent notification, all government and private schools in Punjab, including those in Lahore, will now be closed starting from May 25. This decision follows consultations with the Provincial Disaster Management Authority PDMA to address the rising temperatures effectively.
Announcement by Education Minister:
Punjabs Education Minister, Rana Sikandar Hayat, noted that many private schools had requested an early start to summer holidays due to anticipated severe heat in the upcoming weeks. Stressing the priority of student safety and well-being, he highlighted strong parental support for the decision to begin holidays this week.
Exemptions for Exam-Holding Schools:
Originally slated to begin on May 22, the start of summer vacations has been adjusted to accommodate schools currently conducting examinations. These schools have been granted special permission to remain open solely for the completion of ongoing assessments.
Previous Plans and Adjustments:
Earlier announcements had set the summer break from June 1 to August 14 across Punjab, with schools scheduled to reopen on August 15 for both government and private institutions.
Changes in School Hours:
To mitigate the effects of extreme daytime heat, the operational hours of educational institutions have been modified. Schools will now operate from 7:00 AM to 11:30 AM, Monday through Thursday, aiming to minimize exposure during the hottest part of the day and ensure the safety of students and staff.
