Punjab Mines Labor Welfare Commissioner is offering scholarships for the children of miners, providing financial assistance for students enrolled from primary classes up to postgraduate programs. These scholarships aim to ease the financial burden of education for mining families, with each family eligible to submit applications for up to two children. The application process has been extended, and the new deadline for submission is November 20, 2024. Selected students will receive an annual stipend as part of the program. Stipend Structure for Punjab Mines Labor Scholarship

The annual stipend for eligible students is based on their current education level:


Primary Class 1 to 5: PKR 1,200/-

Middle School Class 6 to 8: PKR 15,000/-

Matric Class 9 to 10: PKR 18,000/-

Intermediate Class 11 to 12: PKR 24,000/-

Graduate Level BA/BSc/B.Com - Day Scholars: PKR 30,000/-

Graduate Level BA/BSc/B.Com - Boarders: PKR 40,000/-

Postgraduate Masters/BS/BBA/Medical/Engineering - Day Scholars: PKR 60,000/-

Postgraduate Masters/BS/BBA/Medical/Engineering - Boarders: PKR 80,000/-


Eligibility Requirements for Punjab Mines Welfare Scholarship

To qualify for the Mines Labor Welfare scholarship, the following conditions must be met:


Qualification as a Miner: The applicants parent must meet the legal definition of a miner as per the Mining Industrial and Commercial Employment Ordinance of 1968. The worker should be registered with the EOBI Employees Old-Age Benefits Institution and must have at least three years of service in the mining industry.


No Service Duration Requirement: For miners with children in categories 1, 2, and 3, there is no minimum employment duration requirement.


Alternative to EOBI Registration: Miners not registered with EOBI can submit an affidavit attested by a notary public, along with verification from the assistant mines labor welfare commissioner.


Eligibility for Children of Deceased or Disabled Miners: Children of miners who have passed away or are disabled are eligible for the scholarship.


Ineligibility for Certain Students:

Students studying in schools under the Mines Labor Welfare Organization or Punjab Workers Welfare Board are not eligible.


Students currently receiving scholarships from the Workers Welfare Board cannot apply.


Prep and nursery students are not eligible for this scholarship.


Eligibility for Retired Workers: Retired miners who are receiving pensions from EOBI are still eligible to apply for their children’s scholarships.


Application Process for Punjab Mines Labor Scholarship

Students and their families can obtain the scholarship application forms from the Mines Labor Welfare offices in various cities, including Chakwal, Rawalpindi, Sargodha, Khushab, D.G. Khan, and Multan. Incomplete applications will be rejected, so applicants must ensure that they submit all required documents. Along with the application form, the following documents must be provided:


Miner’s CNIC Computerized National Identity Card.

Social Security or Old Age Benefit Card for the miner.

Attested copy of the worker’s firm card or appointment letter.

CNIC or Family Registration Certificate FRC issued by NADRA for the student.

Proof of Death Grant or Disability Pension for children of deceased or disabled workers.


Applicants should complete and submit all documents before the final deadline to benefit from this scholarship program aimed at supporting the education of miners’ children across Punjab
