Punjab Launches Merit Based Scholarships for Students

Punjab Chief Minister has sanctioned the Honhaar Scholarship initiative, extending educational opportunities to students from all provinces. The program aims to provide financial assistance to talented students outside Punjab, ensuring equitable access to higher education. Increased Laptop Distribution and Scholarship Helpline
During a high-level meeting, CM Punjab instructed that the number of laptops allocated to students be increased to 110,000. Additionally, she directed the establishment of a dedicated helpline to assist scholarship recipients, ensuring smooth facilitation and guidance throughout the process.
Eligibility Criteria and Equal Opportunities
The eligibility requirements for students from other provinces will align with those in Punjab. A minimum score of 65% is necessary to qualify for a laptop. Emphasizing equal educational opportunities, she stated that scholarships and technological support are fundamental rights of students and a key governmental responsibility.
Commitment to National Educational Investment
CM Punjab highlighted that education and youth development are the country’s most valuable investments. She expressed a strong commitment to providing laptops to as many students as possible. She also assured that students from Azad Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Balochistan, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will receive equal benefits under this program.
Financial Assistance and Future Educational Events
She reaffirmed that financial constraints will not hinder student welfare initiatives. The Punjab government will cover tuition fees for deserving students who secure admission to reputed institutions on merit. Additionally, approval was granted for organizing a one-day Vice-Chancellors’ Conference and a Tech Expo in Punjab to further promote educational advancements.
