Punjab Higher Education Commission PHEC is currently accepting applications for the Indigenous PhD Scholarship IPHD. This opportunity is open to eligible candidates seeking to pursue a Ph.D. in various disciplines, including Science & Technology, Social Sciences, Arts & Humanities, Business & Management Sciences, at any public or private sector university chartered by the Government of Punjab. The detailed information about the scholarship scheme is shared as Punjab HEC Indigenous PhD Scholarship Program.

Stipend Details

PHEC will award a monthly stipend of PKR 100,000 to selected Ph.D. scholars in the field of Science and Technology, while candidates in Arts and Social Sciences will receive PKR 50,000 per month. The scholarship covers a duration of three years, and online applications must be submitted by January 28, 2023.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the Indigenous PhD scholarship, candidates must hold domicile from any district in Punjab, possess an MS/MPhil degree from a foreign or local university with no 3rd division or grade D in their entire academic career. Additionally, applicants must have a minimum CGPA of 3.0, CGPA of 3.75, or first division in their MS/MPhil/Equivalent degree. Other criteria include age limits, no current employment during the scholarship, and seeking admission within 9 months after receiving the scholarship letter.

Application Process

Interested candidates can apply online through the PHEC website until January 28, 2024. A hard copy of the complete application must be submitted via registered post by January 31, 2024, before 05:00 PM. Hand-delivered applications will not be accepted. Financial Coverage

PHEC will provide financial support for 36 months, with Rs. 50,000 per month for Social Sciences, Arts & Humanities, Business & Management Sciences, etc., and Rs. 100,000 per month for Sciences & Technology.

Ineligibility Criteria


Candidates already availing of any other HEC/Government scholarship for Ph.D. and those currently pursuing a PhD are not eligible to apply.
This Indigenous PhD Scholarship program by PHEC aims to support and encourage research and academic excellence in Punjab, offering financial assistance to deserving candidates in various fields of study.
