Punjab Ends Cash Salaries for Private School Teachers

Punjab Education Foundation PEF has imposed an immediate restriction on cash salary payments for teachers in privatized schools. Moving forward, all salaries will be processed electronically through bank transfers to ensure a secure and transparent payment system, according to a report by the local electronic media. Official Notification and Record-Keeping
A notification issued by PEF on Saturday confirmed the implementation of this policy. It also stated that salary transactions will now be logged in the Teachers’ Information System to maintain proper financial records and improve accountability.
Strict Enforcement and Penalties
Schools that fail to comply with the new digital payment mandate will face serious consequences, including the potential cancellation of their operational licenses. This measure is intended to enforce financial transparency and ensure that all institutions adhere to the updated payment procedures.
Impact on Schools and Educators
As part of the initial phase of this initiative, over 5,000 schools have been brought under the revised payment system, affecting approximately 10,000 teachers throughout Punjab. The transition is aimed at modernizing financial operations and reducing discrepancies in salary disbursements.
