Petition Filed for Re-Conduct of MDCAT and Grace Marks

A group of students seeking admission to MBBS programs in medical colleges have approached the Islamabad High Court, requesting a re-conduct of the Medical and Dental College Admission Test MDCAT. The application filed with the court seeks an order for the test to be held again, with the additional request of awarding grace marks for questions that were out of the syllabus. The petition names the Secretary of the Ministry of Health and the President of the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council PMDC as respondents, along with the Vice Chancellor of Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Medical University and the Chairman of the National Medical and Dental Board.
According to the students, the MDCAT was conducted on September 22, 2024, during which 26 to 27 questions out of a total of 200 multiple-choice questions MCQs were found to be outside the prescribed syllabus. The students were reportedly shocked upon encountering these questions, as they could not provide answers.
The petition also mentions that examiners collected the students question papers and answer sheets. In response to these alleged irregularities, the students and their parents organized a peaceful protest, expressing dissatisfaction with the test administrations lack of transparency.
