PEB Maintains Matric Exam Schedule During Ramadan

The Punjab Education Board has officially declared that the Secondary School Certificate SSC or matric exams will proceed as planned, despite earlier requests for a delay. The All Pakistan Private Schools Association APPSA had submitted a formal letter to the Caretaker Chief Minister of Punjab and the Secretary of Higher Education, urging a one-month postponement of the exams. The latest updates of the matric class exams are announced as PEB Maintains Matric Exam Schedule During Ramadan.
APPSAs Request for Postponement Due to Smog and Winter Holidays
In the letter, Mian Shabir Ahmad Hashmi, the Central President of APPSA, emphasized the adverse impact of smog and extended winter holidays on students. The letter also highlighted concerns about the loss of crucial study time during the prolonged winter break. Despite these pleas, the provincial education board has firmly stated that there will be no modifications to the existing exam schedule.
Matric Exams Set to Begin on March 1
The SSC examinations are scheduled to commence on March 1, with the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education BISE Lahore releasing a tentative date sheet. Officials emphasize the potential ripple effect on higher-level exams if any delay occurs in the matric examinations.
Contrast with Khyber Pakhtunkhwas Decision
While Punjab maintains its original schedule, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has recently opted to postpone the annual SSC 9th and 10th grade exams. Originally slated to start on March 14, the exams will now begin more than a month later. This decision comes in response to concerns expressed by parents and students, who were apprehensive about the exams coinciding with the holy month of Ramadan.
