The latest release of the Times Higher Education THE World’s Young University Rankings 2024 has cast a spotlight on Pakistani higher education institutions. Out of the 76 universities from Pakistan featured in the rankings, 33 have secured official positions, while the rest have been acknowledged as reporters for their data submissions. Acknowledgment of Pakistani Universities
The list of recognized Pakistani universities in the Young University Rankings comprises those that are 50 years old or younger. Alongside the 33 ranked institutions, others have been classified as reporters for providing data, even though they didnt meet ranking criteria.
The 2024 rankings encompass a total of 673 universities, marking an increase from the 605 institutions featured in 2023. Furthermore, 499 institutions have been designated as reporters for submitting data but failing to meet ranking prerequisites.
Global Leaders and Trends
Nanyang Technological University in Singapore continues its reign at the top of the league table for the second consecutive year. Despite Hong Kongs continued presence in the top 10, individual university performances vary. Notably, the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology has slipped to third place, while the City University of Hong Kong has climbed to fourth.
International Dynamics
Frances top institutions have displayed notable improvement, with Paris Sciences et Lettres – PSL Research University Paris ascending to second place. Turkey leads the rankings with the highest number of listed institutions at 58, followed closely by India with 55 and Iran with 46 universities. The global representation has expanded to include 79 territories, with Ghana and Peru making their inaugural appearances.
