Electronic media channel has reported the arrest of two individuals involved in cheating during the recent retake of the Medical and Dental College Admission Test MDCAT at IBA Karachi University. The suspects, Abdul Majeed and Qaiser Ali, were caught while attempting to impersonate other candidates. A formal complaint led to the registration of a case at Mobina Town Police Station under Section 420 of the Pakistan Penal Code. Additionally, two facilitators, Kamran Haider and Mukhtar, were implicated following this investigation, based on a complaint from the supervising professor overseeing the exams. Massive Retake of MDCAT Exam Conducted in Sindh

The 2024 MDCAT retake witnessed participation from over 38,000 candidates across various test centers in Sindh. This extensive examination lasted three and a half hours and featured 200 multiple-choice questions. The retake was overseen by IBA Sukkur in line with court orders. Key locations for the test included NED University, the University of Karachi, and other prominent examination venues, ensuring candidates could conveniently take the test at various centers across the province.

Entry Point Strategy to Ease Candidate Movement

To ensure candidates could access their respective examination centers without difficulty, a system of multiple entry points was established. These were designated as follows:

Karachi University: Metroville Gate, Maskan Gate, and Shaikh Zaid Gate

IBA Public School Sukkur: Gate No. 3

Jamshoro Mehran University: Gate No. 2

Hyderabad Public School Latifabad: Central Gate

Police Training School Larkana: Main Gate

This initiative was taken to support candidates by reducing wait times and facilitating smoother entry to their test centers.

Strict Instructions to Ensure Exam Fairness

Candidates were directed to follow a series of strict guidelines to ensure fairness during the MDCAT retake. They were explicitly instructed to leave all electronic gadgets, including smart watches and mobile phones, at home or outside the test venue. In addition to their original admit slips, they were required to present one of the following for identity verification: CNIC, Juvenile Card, Passport, Matriculation Mark sheet, or Intermediate Mark sheet. This effort was aimed at maintaining the integrity of the examination process and preventing any form of malpractice.

Dr. Asif Shaikh, Vice-Chancellor of Sukkur IBA, reassured all stakeholders that the examination would proceed under tight security measures.
