KP HED to Expand Internship Opportunities

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Higher Education Department is devising a plan to provide students with increased internship opportunities across different industries in the province. The students can get fresh updates of KP Higher Education Department to Expand Internship Opportunities.
Enhancing Internship Programs for Students
A high-level meeting, chaired by Higher Education Minister Meena Khan Afridi, was held on Thursday to explore ways to expand internship placements for BS students in government colleges and recent graduates. The session was attended by senior officials, including the Special Secretary for Higher Education, Additional Secretaries, and representatives from the Youth Affairs Department.
Industry Partnerships for Internship Expansion
Officials disclosed that discussions have already been initiated with industrialists, government agencies, and NGOs in key regions such as Peshawar, Mardan, and Hazara, yielding positive feedback. Efforts are also being extended to other districts to broaden internship opportunities for students.
Mandatory Internships and Policy Implementation
Minister Afridi underscored the necessity of making internships a compulsory component of academic programs as per Higher Education Commission HEC regulations. He directed the HED to establish a formal agreement with the Youth Affairs Department to ensure internship placements for students from both settled and merged districts.
Integrating AI and Emerging Technologies
Recognizing the growing demand for expertise in Artificial Intelligence and emerging technologies, Minister Afridi urged the department to collaborate with the University of Engineering and Technology UET to introduce specialized internship programs in these fields. This initiative aims to equip students with practical skills for enhanced career prospects.
