University of Karachi made the announcement of open merit policy for admission during the next academic session. Karachi University granted admissions to the students in the previous academic year and at that time, the students attended their admission entrance test for graduate and postgraduate programs. When the result is announced, about 75% off the students failed in the entry test and now the university has changed the admission criteria for the students. The university will not conduct the entry tests for the departments, for which the entry test were not managed previously. The University officials changed the passing marks for the admission test of different department from 50 to 25 and the students will also find some other departments including Education, Chemical Technology, Applied Physics, Applied Chemistry, Special Education, Petroleum Technology and Environmental Studies, where passing marks were reduced to 40-45 marks from 50. The university has decreased closing percentage for graduate admission on the basis of inter class exams.
