Karachi KMDC MBBS & BDS Fee Increase by 150%

Karachi Medical and Dental College KMDC has recently implemented a significant increase of over 150 percent in the fees for its MBBS and BDS programs. Approval and Notification:
Dr. Nargis Anjum, the principal of KMDC, issued an official notification confirming the approval of the fee hike by the KMDCs governing body. This body, led by Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab, has given the green light to the substantial adjustments in the fee structure for the upcoming academic sessions.
Details of Fee Hike:
According to the notification, several fees have experienced notable increases. The admission fee for open merit has been raised by Rs.30,000 to Rs.50,000. Tuition and library fees have seen a substantial hike from Rs.50,000 to Rs.117,600 and Rs.3,500 to Rs.10,000, respectively. The student activity/social fee has been raised to Rs.10,000 from Rs.8,000. Additionally, new fees have been introduced, including development charges of Rs.30,000, a laboratory fee of Rs.10,000, and an IT fee of Rs.5,000.
Massive Increases in Merit and Self-Finance Seats:
The merit seat fee has witnessed a significant surge, escalating to Rs.268,600 from Rs.101,500 in the previous year. Similarly, the self-finance section has experienced an increase of Rs.80,000, with the admission fee reaching Rs.100,000 compared to Rs.20,000 in the preceding year. The tuition fee for self-finance students has doubled from Rs.600,000 to Rs.1.2 million. Additionally, transport fees have been raised from Rs.20,000 to Rs.36,000. The self-finance seat, previously priced at Rs.651,500, has seen a substantial surge and now stands at Rs.1,421,000.
