Karachis top colleges have witnessed a significant decline in admission merit, marking a historic low in the last 25 years. The College Education Department Sindh has lowered the merit requirements for Intermediate Part 1 admissions, even for the citys most prestigious institutions. Merit Lists Issued by College Education Sindh

The College Education Department Sindh has released three consecutive merit lists, reflecting a sharp decline of 40 to 90 marks across various faculties in the leading government colleges. For the first time in the central admission committees history, merit lists were issued three times, rather than just once. The introduction of a zonal system allowed high-performing students to secure admission in colleges within their zones, leaving 70% of seats vacant in other colleges. As a result, a second and third merit list were issued, enabling students with lower grades to gain admission.

Intermediate Admission Process in Sindh Colleges

The admission process for 11th-grade students in Pre-Medical, Pre-Engineering, General Science, and other groups began in mid-July 2024 and continued until September 27, 2024. Due to the availability of vacant seats in many colleges, the principals were instructed to extend the admission deadline. Now, teachers in these institutions are tasked with educating both high-achieving students and those with lower academic performance.
