Higher Education Department has rolled out a new policy regarding ex-Pakistan leave for teachers. Under this updated policy, any teacher applying for study leave must submit a surety bond worth Rs. 2.5 million. The department issued a notification detailing this policy change, which affects both teachers and other employees. It also called for a report on all current ex-Pakistan leave cases. According to the notification, all applicants for leave are required to submit a surety bond. In particular, teachers seeking study leave must furnish a bond of Rs. 2.5 million.
Furthermore, if a teacher or employee does not complete their degree after taking study leave, they will be required to repay the salary they received during that time.
In a related development, the Punjab provincial government is set to recruit thousands of teachers in the coming weeks. Provincial Minister of Education Sikandar Hayat will oversee the hiring process, following the directives of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif. The recruitment will focus on hiring subject specialist teachers, with the Public Service Commission managing the process.
