FDE Schools New Promotion Policy 2023

Federal Directorate of Education FDE has released the promotion policy for the FDE Class 1 to 9 annual exams in 2023. The announcement specifies the requirements for promotion for each class. The candidates can get the detailed information that Federal Education Ministry Shares Good News for School Students.
Class 1 to 2

All students of Class 1 to 2 will be promoted to the next class, irrespective of their performance in the annual exams.

Class 3 and 4

The promotion policy for Class 3 and 4 is as follows:

-Minimum pass percentage of 40% in each subject.
-Failed in one or two subjects but an overall aggregate of 40%, including the failed subjects.
-Failed in more than two subjects will result in repeating the class.

Class 5 to 8

The students from class 5 to 8 are divided into two categories, which are mentioned as under:

The promotion policy for Class 5 to 8 is based on subject categories. The following are the criteria for promotion:

-Minimum pass percentage of 40% in each subject
-Failure in any one subject of any category with at least 20% marks in the failed subject, with an overall aggregate of 40% marks with the failed subjects.
-Failed in two subjects, one from each category, with 20% marks in each subject, and an overall aggregate of 40% marks, including failed subjects.

Failed in two subjects of category II but get 20% marks in each failing subject, with an overall aggregate of 40% marks, including failed subjects.

Failed in two subjects of category I will result in repeating the class.

The promotion criteria for Class 5 and 8 are as follows:

Minimum passing percentage of 35% for each subject in external or centralized exams under FDE in 2023. This will be revised and upgraded to 40% in 2024.
The students who fail in one subject of any category with 20% marks in that subject but have an overall aggregate of 40% marks will be promoted.
The students who fail in two subjects, one from each category, with 20% marks in each subject and an overall aggregate of 40% marks will be promoted.
The students who fail in two subjects of category II with 20% marks in each failed subject, with an aggregate of 40% marks, including failed subjects, will be promoted.

The students who fail in two subjects of category 1 will have to repeat the class.

Class 9

For Class 9, the promotion policy is as follows:

The students who fail in three subjects in Federal Board first annual exams will be promoted to Class 10 and will be allowed to appear in FBISE second annual exams for improvement.
The students who fail in three subjects in the first annual exams will be promoted to Class 10 and will be allowed to attend 10th class first annual exams.
Students who fail in more than three subjects in the first annual exams will repeat Class 9. Such students will be considered as fresh candidates if their result is cancelled.
